Come Sail Away With Me....

Ahoy, Maties!!

For those of you who are at or near my age (I know...I'm dating myself!)...you may remember a group named "Styx". One of their most popular songs is entitled "Sail Away". Well, I wish you were all going to "sail away with me" onboard the Norwegian Spirit to beautiful ports in the Caribbean. Words cannot describe the awesome turquoise waters, and the breeze on your face as you sit on your private balcony sipping a glass of wine while the world floats by. Am I making you sick yet?? :o) All I can say is book the cruise for 2010!!

Meanwhile, we set sail March 1....yes...THIS weekend....for our 2009 Bead Cruise. Beads R Us will remain open while I am away, but with a small adjustment in hours. They are: Monday and Tuesday: Closed; Wed., Thurs., and Fri. : 12:00 - 5:00; Sat. - 12:00 - 4:00. Please stop by and visit Bobbie and the gang, and while you're at it, sit down and bead a while!!

When I return, I will post some pics of the scenery and some of the beading done onboard.

Be sure to "tune in" to this blog for announcements of next year's cruise, and other special events happening at Beads R Us in the near future.

Take care until I return!!

Blessings,

Kriss

New Store Hours

I must confess that besides the fact that seconds seem to be getting shorter in my life, my brain takes naps...(that's got to be it, because I know I'm not forgetful!).... But I failed to mention one major bit of Beads R Us news. As of February 2, 2009, our hours of operation have changed. The new hours are as follows:

Sunday - Monday: Closed
Tues., Wed., and Fri. : 11:00 - 5:30
Thurs. : 11:00 - 7:00
Sat. : 11:00 - 4:00

Thanks Bevvie, for waking my brain up on that one!! I think the problem is that I'm not feeding it enough chocolate. Guess I need to remedy that problem, don't I? I believe I'll go do that right now!!

Pardon me while I take a short break...now...if only I could remember where I put that chocolate........

Beads and Bead Blessings,
Kriss

2009 News Review

Margo-Ritaville by Margo Field

Here we are...already into February of 2009!! Can you believe it? Though I know in my mind that a second is not any shorter that it used to be, it certainly feels that it is! Yet, they continue to tick, tick, tick....just as they have in the past and will in the future. So my friends, let's not waste any time, and get right down to the task at hand.

I'm so glad you chose to stop by and check out the Beads R Us news. Thank you!! We've got lots to talk about.

February is being spent in preparation for the annual Bead Cruise. Although it is sold out for 2009, I highly recommend considering going in 2010. The cruise is very well organized, and jam packed full of awesome instructors and classes...not to mention the entire cruise experience. It's a chance to see another part of the world, with new and exciting cultures and people. Heather Powers and Beverly Herman do an outstanding job of making sure everyone is treated as royalty. Believe me, that's easy to get used to!

Also close on the horizon is another Shreveport Bead Retreat!! Yes, you read correctly. There will be two this year. Ida Williams has been so successful in hosting the retreat each year, that it has grown by leaps and bounds, and she's had to schedule a second one so everyone wanting to attend can do so. It is being held the first weekend in April, and as usual, the first weekend in August. For further information, contact Ida at http://iwilli71129.tripod.com/2ndshreveportbeadretreat/
This is something you really do not want to miss!! It's the ultimate beading experience.

Coming in May to visit us again is Margo Field. Her workshop this year is a necklace entitled Margo-Ritaville. As usual, it is elegant and glamorous!! The date is May 2-3, 2009, and it is a two day workshop. The fee is $275, and a $75.00 deposit is required and due upon signing up for the class. This will assure your spot in the class. Space is limited, so hurry, hurry, hurry!! Kits are not available from Margo, but registrants will receive a supply list.

Beads R Us has several exciting workshops scheduled for 2009. Others besides Margo include Margie Deeb, who is an expert on color, and has authored several books, and Sherry Serafini, whose medium is bead embroidery. Sherry has recently co-authored a book on the subject, and we are so lucky to have her "swing by" Beads R Us. Jeannette Cook is also returning this fall. Her workshop is TBD.

And a little glimpse into 2010 includes Marcia DeCoster, Laura McCabe, and NanC Meinhardt. So just tuck this information away in your "things I want to do" file, and tune in to the blog, call the shop,(318-442-8666) or email us for further information. (beadqueen@suddenlink.net)

I think that's about all I can come up with for now.....but that should keep us busy for a while!

Everyone take care, and we look forward to seeing you in the shop. And...always remember, we offer classes, classes, classes......all conducted at your convenience and on a one-on-one basis. Call and schedule one soon!

Thanks again for stopping by!

We're Exclusive!!

It is my honor to announce that Dona Anderson has sanctioned Beads R Us to exclusively carry kits for her gorgeous designs, and has also announced I will be exclusively teaching her workshops in Louisiana.

Dona is currently restricted from travel, and for that duration, I will proudly be teaching any of her workshops at Beads R Us, or any location in Louisiana as a whole. If you would like more information, or would like to attend or host a workshop, call (318-442-8666), or email (beadqueen@suddenlink.net) Beads R Us. First on the list is "Too Hot to Handle", being taught at Beads R Us on Saturday, Sept. 6.  This is a one day workshop, and the cost is $50.  Dona is supplying the fork handles and the instructions, and that money will go directly to her. The remaining supplies, including Rivolies, will be available at Beads R Us, or you are welcome to build your own kit.  Supply lists will be available by request at the shop.

By attending any of Dona's workshops, you are supporting her in many ways.   I encourage the beading community of Louisiana as a whole to support this effort for Dona. Let me thank you in advance for your generosity and participation.

Let's get going!!  Attend or schedule a workshop today!!
